An Artful Dance with Venice

Remembering Venice, Palazzo Ducale, watercolor

Dear Friends,

It is with great joy that I write to you, albeit after a bit of time…..I write this letter, first in my blue journal, adorned with images of the changing phases of the moon. A beautiful image that is somewhat reflective of my sharing today.

I have found that life often occurs in seasons. Different seasons are focused on different aspects of life. Education, Family, Love, Career growth, Spiritual Growth, Creativity, etc. So it has been for me. The phase I am now in is one where my creativity and ‘mission’ as an Artist will be at the forefront. What that looks like and means is slowly being explored.

My past season was largely about learning to be open and receptive. Being somewhat away from my art practice in this way has opened new clarity for me.

I have been granted greater clarity around my connection to Venice. This connection runs much deeper than I had known before. It will be a lifelong journey, mission, creative calling, and mystery that I am saying Yes to, and perhaps have been saying yes to for longer than I outwardly knew. The moment I first arrived in Venice, in 1998.

I cannot speed the process, nor can I slow it. There is an element of mystery and things will be understood and known at the right time for my creative and spiritual journey. Yes, it is that too.

Although Venice will be a significant part of my art practice, perhaps the heartbeat of my art practice, I will also be exploring other painting subjects. Because that compromises the totality of what my creative stirrings and offerings are.

There is an upcoming trip to Venice in the works, that brings a radiant joy filled smile to my face as I write this. I am grateful beyond measure.

If you have been a long time reader of my letters, I thank you kindly for being here. You are an important part of my creative journey. If you are new and this is the first letter you are reading, know that is a beautiful start to be a part of and I am grateful for your presence here as well.

Perhaps if there is something you would like to reflect upon, there is an invitation to ponder the different seasons in your own life. Which one are you in now? Whatever it may be, I hope it is filled with immense joy, beauty, love, and reverence for this wonderful gift of life, that keeps giving.

As always, I would love to hear from you if you are so inclined to write back.

Thank you for joining me in this moment of gratitude, and the sharing of this opening.

With much love,

Sophia
